Getting dental work is probably not on your list of "fun activities!"
And as it turns out, humans aren't the only ones who have to grin and bear it.
A North American River Otter named Sam got a root canal at the Potawatomi Zoo.
The good dentists at "The Dental Center" are called in from time to time to work on the animals at the zoo.
"The first animal I worked on was a small monkey, and then we've worked on jungle cats, snow leopard, a mere leopard and a couple of river otters," says Dr. Michael Littel with The Dental Center.
Zoo veterinarian, Brian Stockinger says, "We try to do preventative care, get to your doctor, get your physical, and on this male otter we saw one fractured K9 tooth."
Sam the Otter will join his pals at the zoo once he recovers.
He was pretty lucky, the drill they used was battery-powered, so it didn't make the same amount of noise as a traditional one!
