An 18-year-old Detroit man has been charged in the carjacking of a state representative outside a convenience store.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Rodsco Williamson was arraigned Wednesday on armed robbery, carjacking and gun charges in Detroit's 36th District Court.
His was jailed on a $250,000 bond.
Democratic Rep. Jimmy Womack was robbed July 8 at gunpoint. Womack says he was getting into his car when three men approached with guns drawn. He says they first demanded his car but he refused, so they robbed him of about $300.
He was un injured.
The Associated Press was unable to determine if Williamson was represented by an attorney at Wednesday's arraignment. A preliminary examination is set for Aug. 27.
