Brian Kelly says the team is closer to naming a starting quarterback, but a final decision hasn't been made yet. Kelly took questions on how the team was coming along during Notre Dame Media Day on Thursday.
He said getting the quarterback ready has made the team practice 11 on 11 much more. Kelly is looking to go with one quarterback and have a back up ready that can win.
Everett Golson took the first reps with the first team at Thursday morning's practice. Whether this is an indication of anything remains to be seen.
Kelly did say that a clearer separation would come next week. "But there's still so much learning, so it wouldn't be as cut and dry as say, here's my No. 1. The door will still be open for growth during that week, but we'll start to separate the reps a little bit," said Kelly.
