Back to school spending is up from last year.
Surveys say parents are spending more money on clothing, electronics and school supplies.
Consumers will spend $688 this year compared to $603 last year.
"July retail sales went up this past summer so maybe consumers are wanting to spend a little bit more," said Saint Mary's College Economics Professor Richard Measell.
Some consumers wait to buy stuff to see what the hot item is.
