An elderly man is safe after making it out of a Monday morning fire in his Osceola home.
It happened on the 11-thousand block of Birchtree Drive around 2:00. Penn Township firefighters were the first on the scene. They say when they arrived they saw flames coming from the roof of the home. They believe the fire started in the attic, where they were able to keep the fire contained.
Several nearby fire departments gave Penn Township mutual aid. Assistant Chief Brian Mayo told FOX 28 that and an "aggressive interior attack" helped the departments put out the fire quickly.
"The guys did great," he said. "We had very little activity going on and there were no injuries to anybody which is always a plus."
The Red Cross arrived on the scene later to help the man, who we're told lives on his own in the home.
