Hundreds of people packed the front lawn of a family that lost their little girl in a violent home invasion.
Seven-year-old Kristyana Jackson was shot during a home invasion in Elkhart Friday night.
She later passed away from her injuries.
Monday, those who knew her and even those who didn't, came together to celebrate her life.
Members of the community gathered for a candle light vigil to sing, pray, and ask whoever is responsible for this crime to come forward.
People who knew Kristyana say she was a joy and made such a difference in her short life.
"The young lady, Kristyana. She was amazing. She touched so many lives as you can see. And like I said before. Triumph can come out of tragedy, but we have to dig deep inside and come together in order for that to be possible," says a family friend, Robert Perry.
Police are still searching for a suspect and don't have much to go on at this time.
There is a fund set up at Key banks that goes towards Crimestoppers in Kristyana's name to help find her killer.
One of the women who helped set it up lost her 13-year-old son to murder.
She says she didn't know the family personally, but wanted to help.
"I can imagine. I know what the family is going through. The fund was set up because we want children to feel safe in our community and we want to get these people off the streets," says Terri Hight, who helped set up the fund.
Kristyana was a second grader at Mary L. Daly Elementary.
Her principal told us Kristyana was a wonderful little girl from a great family and that she will be remembered as a student who brought joy to others.
