Lane restrictions for the SR-933 bridge in South Bend will be removed by the end of the day on Wednesday, says the Indiana Department of Transportation. The sidewalks on both sides of the bridge will also reopen at that time.
Crews have been working to fill crack and replace railing for months, and are now finishing two weeks ahead of schedule.
INDOT says the west side of Northshore Boulevard at S.R. 933 will also
reopen, but the east side of Northshore Blvd. at the intersection will remain
closed while crews continue to repair the underside of the bridge.
Current
weight restrictions on the bridge will remain until all work is completed
underneath. That is expected to be finished later this fall.
