In addition to wearing them, firefighters across Michiana were working to fill the boot Saturday.
Our cameras caught up with Mishawaka Firefighters in front of Walmart.
Their goal is to raise $10,000 thousand for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
It's a fundraiser they've been doing for over 50 years.
"To get out in the public, to get out in the community, to show everybody that we are real, that we are part of this wonderful community, to get out of the station on such a beautiful day. It's just fantastic," says Brian Linson with the Mishawaka Fire Department.
Other fire departments, including Elkhart, participated.
Brave volunteers there collected spare cash at a State Road 19 intersection.
