A 32-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital Monday morning after police say she was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound following an accident in downtown Mishawaka.

Dispatchers say the call came in around 10:30 Monday morning. Police say the wounded woman rear-ended a pick-up truck at Lincolnway and Church Street in downtown Mishawaka. Police say the driver of the pick-up truck got out of his vehicle to see if the other driver was ok and found the woman had been shot.

Police say the woman, who has not been named, was wounded in the abdomen area. There have been no updates on her condition.

Mishawaka Police say the woman was shot at a home in the 700-block of Lovechio Drive in Mishawaka. They have not released information about exactly what happened at the home. Police are asking anyone with information to call Detectives at 574-258-1684.
