Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly briefly addressed
the suspension of senior running back Cierre Wood during his Tuesday press conference.
The University announced Sunday that Wood and junior defensive
end Justin Utupo were each suspended for two games for violation of team rules.
"I don't want to get into specifics," said Kelly.
"The most important thing is although this is perceived as discipline, I see it
as an educational opportunity. How do I get them to live up to the standard set
at Notre Dame. I want them to come back as better citizens and better
young men."
Kelly also said USC transfer, RB Amir Carlisle, will
not be available this Saturday because of an injury.
"He's a really good football player and we didn't
want to bring him back at 80%," said Kelly.
Notre Dame leaves for Ireland Wednesday night. They play
Navy at 9:00 a.m. Saturday (South Bend
time).
