Labor day weekend marks the end of summer for many and these people wouldn't spend it anywhere but the campground.
"We've been doing this as a family for quite a few years. 30 years maybe, probably 30 plus years," says camper Judith Walter.
"We come with a big group, every year," says Shari Gardner.
Places like Potato Creek State Park are popular during the holiday weekend. So popular that reservations are often made a year in advance.
"Typically people want to camp and we're packed to the gills," says Potato Creek State Park property manager, Jim Webb.
It's a busy weekend at campgrounds and these campers enjoy getting away from routine.
"It's been a busy summer for us so it's good to get out and have fun," says camper Ryan Hammer.
"Camping is very relaxing, it's easy going, there's no schedules you have to keep. It's just pretty laid back," says Brad Kiser.
The start of school often means the start of sports and a number of activities, which is why Labor Day weekend can be a nice break before things get too hectic.
"School's already started, but all the grandchildren really look forward to getting together with all their cousins and having a good time for the weekend," says Walter.
The kids have already been back to school for two weeks so its a good break after the first two weeks of kind of getting back to normalcy, I guess you would say, after the summer," says Kiser.
For some it's not just the break, it's about spending valuable time with family.
"There's not enough social interaction between families anymore. A lot of people will be in on the computer or watching tv, but it's good to get together and have good food and fellowship with people and just spend time together, because that's a very important thing that doesn't happen much anymore," says Hammer.
"I like family things, the togetherness of a family," says Walter.
And nothing says togetherness like sleeping in close quarters and cooking over the fire.
