Mishawaka Common Council delayed a vote that would give some city employees raises.
Continuances like this aren't unusual.
They have until the end of September and plan to take it up on September 17th.
Mayor Dave Wood has proposed a 2 percent raise for city employees who are not represented by unions.
He says it's a sound budget. The city's been very conservative. And they've put themselves in a position to give staff members raises.
Mayor Dave Wood says, "We've reduced staff over the last few years. We're asking staff members to serve very well, the public. We're asking them to do more with less and so we want to reward our public servants for doing what I think is some pretty good work."
Speaking of financials, the mayor told council the city of Mishawaka just got an A plus from Standard & Poor's.
He says it was due to the city's stable economy and strong financial position.
