Fall seems to come earlier every year.
"If it could be the month of October all year, I would be ecstatic," says customer Ashley Espich.
That may not be possible, but many stores are stretching the fall season.
"We've been doing this for 24 years now and absolutely, it seems like people are starting to think about it earlier," says Fun F/X owner, Victor Cao.
Half of the Fun F/X store in Mishawaka operates year-round. Then when September comes around the second half of the store is opened, revealing costumes and decorations specifically for fall.
"Lately it seems like we're getting pressure to open it up a little sooner. They want to start thinking early, plan early," says Cao.
This isn't the only store getting pressured to start the fall season earlier.
"Our guests are looking at products earlier and earlier. We have a trend of guests wanting to get the Halloween candy, the decorations, all that kind of stuff the sooner the better," says Target store team leader, Bryan Schiff.
Which is why at Super Target in Mishawaka, the shelves quickly fill up with fall decorations, costumes, and Halloween candy, right after the back-to-school shopping season.
"It's something new, it's something to get excited about. You had that back-to-school season and now we're into Halloween and Fall and it's exciting to get out there, get that merchandise first and see what this year's trends are," says Schiff.
And customers at both stores agree.
"I think it's good they have all the stuff out. I like to shop early and have everything ready," says Jackie Westbrook.
"We love Halloween and we love decorating for Halloween, inside and out. We just have a good time with it. We love coming and looking at things and getting stuff out early," says Ann Woodhurst.
Some customers are just looking, "There's nothing between now and Halloween so why not?" says Westbrook.
Others are already buying. "We've seen lots of cartloads already of Halloween candy and merchandise starting to head out," says Schiff.
So before you get too blue about summer winding down, hit the stores because another season is just around the corner.
