RiverBend Cancer Services is offering a new program to help families cope with a cancer diagnosis. The program is called "The Family Scrimmage, Tackling Cancer Together." It will provide support for families with school-age kids.
A therapist will answer questions and concerns parents and kids have about a cancer diagnosis. "We're hoping to step in and help with that," says Wellness Program Director Laura Ginter. "Both by reassuring the parents that the things they're doing are right or if they have questions we can answer them. Also giving the kids the chance to really express their feelings."
The evenings will begin with a family-style meal, so reservations are required. The scrimmages take place on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the RiverBend Cancer Services Wellness Center. The event starts at 5:30pm and runs until 7:00pm.
Call 574-287-4197 to RSVP. For more information on the scrimmage and other RiverBend Cancer Services programs, head to their website.
