Fans weren't the only ones excited about Notre Dame's first home game.
Local businesses were just as excited.
The sidewalks on Eddy Street were bustling Saturday afternoon
Several nearby businesses were packed as well.
Mulligans Owner, Sue Mulligan, says it got busy at 9 a.m. and stayed that way all day.
"Everyone typically opens up earlier and people are here to party and have fun and eat. We're running out of food so that's a good thing!" says Mulligan.
Mulligan estimated the home opener brought in five times as many people compared to a typical Saturday afternoon.
