Two children have now died from injuries suffered in a crash Tuesday afternoon at M-60 and Leet Road near Barron Lake in Howard Township. Witnesses say a sedan traveling southbound on Leet Road failed to stop for the stop sign.
Nineteen-year-old Sarah Michael was driving the sedan with three children inside. That vehicle was hit on the passenger side doors by a Dodge Ram pickup truck being driven by 60-year-old Robert Camfield. The three children were trapped inside. Emergency crews had to extricate them when they arrived.
Nine-year-old Juliana Brown was taken by Medflight to the hospital. She died Tuesday evening from her injuries. Four-year-old Penelope True and Six-year-old Sophia True were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Police say Sophia True died from her injuries at an area hospital. Penelope True remains in critical condition. Michael is in serious condition. Camfield was treated and released at the scene.
Police are continuing to investigate. Police are asking anyone who may witnessed the crash to call MSP at 269-683-4411.
