The Freedom Memorial in St. Patrick's County Park was the site of a "Ringing of the Bell" Ceremony. The ringing of the bells, also called a "5-5-5," meant someone died in the line of duty.
It was a way to communicate that somber message many years ago but Clay Fire Territory keeps the ringing of the bell tradition alive every September 11th.
The event which honors the victims and first responders, attracts many.
Chief John Vance of Clay Fire Territory says, "It is very special and again. It's humbling and I wish they could meet and greet all the people who were inNew York city and Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania who did hero's work that day. But to be able to represent them and have a piece of that, I'm very honored by that."
The Freedom Memorial includes the sculpture entitled "Standing Tall" a section of steel beam from Ground Zero right in front of it.
