We're talking about veterans. What employer wouldn't want to hire someone with those qualities?
A job fair exclusively for veterans was held at Western Michigan University-Southwest, Thursday.
Employers like Whirlpool, area schools, trucking companies and Manpower were represented with a wide variety of blue collar and white collar jobs.
Vets just coming back from deployment were able to do some one stop shopping for jobs. But organizers say, it's about more than that.
Major General Retired Robert Smith says, "First of all, it gives vets a sense that the community they're coming back to is appreciative of what they've done. When they can walk in and see employers saying, 'I want to hire you because you were a vet and you bring something to the table.'"
Alicia Razor, a local vets employment Representative for Workforce Development says, "If we can get everyone in a room to hurry up, get them in here just for the veterans to wait a few minutes, to go and fill out applications, to get employees to talk or to initiate employment, to secure some employment, that is awesome to have in one spot."
Smith says it's another way to thank servicemen for their sacrifice and a win-win because employers are getting the latest technically trained people.
