Is South Bend the best college football town in America? USA Today thinks it at least cracks the top 15.
They're asking you to vote for which town makes the top of the list. A travel writer will visit whichever town wins and put that all that city has to offer in the national spotlight. So the South Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched a campaign to get people to vote for South Bend. Colleen Bormann with the Visitors Bureau said, "We were chosen by five college football experts and so this is not us telling everyone how great we are. This is an actual national publication contacting us and saying we think you are one of the top fifteen greatest football college towns and prove it."
We went out to see what South Bend residents think. Those on Notre Dame's Campus say it is "absolutely" the best College Town in the nation. Danny Walsh said, "I think South Bend is without a doubt the best football town in the country. We've had just an incredible tradition dating back to 18-87. There's so many great coaches, so many great traditions around this campus. Eleven national championships, seven Heisman trophies. The list goes on." And Molly Geraghty said, "Football weekends, like the whole campus explodes. I almost feel like it's at a museum here and everybody is coming to see what's going on."
You can vote for South Bend, or another town, on the "Best College Football Town in America" page.
