They say they didn't feel enough cuts had been made in the budget to pass the fee along.

Mayor Dick Moore of Elkhart says, "I thought there was an awful lot of misleading information. The figures and some of the statistics that were quoted, I noticed, were coming from competitors of people who already have the job.
The mayor went on to say often those savings aren't realistic when they dig deeper.
And he says the city has lost 10.5 million dollars in property tax revenue, so cuts are inevitable.
There will be 6 upcoming budget sessions. October 15th is the date to adopt the budget.
