One dead after multiple shootings in South Bend

Posted:

South Bend police were busy Sunday morning, responding to shootings at three locations.

One, is now being handled by Metro Homicide.

It happened on West Washington Street.

Metro Homicide Commander, Tim Corbett says three people were shot, and one of them died.

The other two victims are expected to recover.

South Bend police initially told us one victim said he was walking in a group on West Washington street when he saw a silver car make a u-turn, then come towards them and start shooting at them.

Another shooting happened at Brookfield street and Vassar Avenue.

South Bend police couldn't give us any details except that at least one person was shot there.

Folks in the neighborhood didn't want to talk on camera, but told us they heard gunshots ring out.

In a third incident, police say a shooting victim was driven to St. Joseph Regional.

The victim showed up in a silver Chevy with the back windows broken out and red stains on the door.

The 17 year old said he was outside in the 2900 block of Bentley Lane when he heard gunshots.

The next thing he knew, his hand was hurt.

He said he then went to his cousin's house and was driven to the hospital.

No word on whether any of these shootings are connected.
