More than a hundred people took steps for a cause that affects more people than you may realize.
Today was the fifth annual Crohns and Colitis Walk. Over $14,000 was raised in the six month campaign. Funds will go towards research for the diseases. The crowd took a mile and a half walk around Howard Park in the beautiful weather.
Bridget Morris started the walk five years ago after being diagnosed with Crohns. "This affects so many people and we have to find a cure so other people don't have to deal with what we deal with."
"It's really less about the walk and more about the opportunity to bring the community together. Crohns and colitis are diseases that aren't real well known so we wanted to give people and outlet to come together," says community development coordinator, Jo Bender.
FOX 28 was a proud sponsor and our own Tom Powell emceed the event today.
