They scare for a cause. A cause that raised over $82,000 last year. Niles Haunted House is open for the season and Scream Park Manager Pete Karlowicz says they're off to a good start.
"We're on target to move up again. It was a good opening weekend and that would say, ok it's comparable to last year, we're going to keep growing, we hope."
It takes 200 volunteers a night to keep this place running.
"Our volunteers are our backbone," says Karlowicz.
And the money they raise goes towards groups or causes in the community.
"The park is run by 80 different non-profit volunteer groups."
The more a volunteer works, the more money donated to their cause.
Volunteer Virgil Taylor works for scholarships. "It feels good to know that what I do out here can help a young guy go or afford to go to college."
But some volunteers are turned away.
"We now have a 20 group waiting list. We can't accept anymore groups because we just have too many people," says Karlowicz.
Everything earned at this park goes to a cause, which may be contributing to the 30,000 plus crowds.
"There are people that are very happy to hear where the money goes. They will say 'I'm really glad this money is going towards a good cause, that's one of the reasons I came,'" says Karlowicz.
"We benefit a lot by helping out others and then they want to help us out too," says Taylor.
For volunteers it is a job, but "where else can you have fun like this at work?" says Karlowicz.
"It's what I like to do and I have fun," says Taylor.
It's for a good cause of course, but also a good time.
