Another round in the Elkhart Budget battle Thursday night. The Council and the mayor have been going back and fourth about how to solve a big budget shortfall.
The mayor was disappointed a trash fee didn't pass so he came up with a list of other cuts to make up for missing revenue. One of those ideas included furlough days for 600 employees... including police and fire.
The council did pass the fire and police department budgets which includes three furlough days for police officers and firefighters. The entire budget still needs final approval.
