UPDATE: Overnight crash kills Rolling Prairie man

St. Joseph County police say a 54-year-old Rolling Prairie man died in a Thursday night accident.

It happened near the corner of State Road 23 and Lath Road outside of North Liberty. Police say a pickup truck driven by Randolph Brown crossed the centerline and crashed into an oncoming car. That car was driven by a 24-year-old Britanny Ruggles of North Liberty. Police say she is a corrections officer.

Brown died at the scene. Ruggles was taken to the hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
