The President and Vice-President of the South Bend School Board are throwing accusations at each other. Friday afternoon it reached a boiling point
School Board President Roger Parent wants Vice President Bill Sniadecki to resign. Earlier this week Sniadecki claimed the board violated Indiana's "Open Door Law" by discussing possible school closures during a closed executive session.
Parent says that's not true, and for Sniadecki to falsely accuse the board of breaking the rules crosses a line.
He wants Sniadecki to write the board and Superintendent Carole Schmidt an apology.
"I'm also asking him to resign from the Vice Presidency of the Board because this is a very important leadership role," Parent says. "In my view he's forfeited that position by his very unethical and irresponsible behavior."
Parent says if Sniadecki doesn't resign he'll try to have him censured.
Sniadecki tells FOX 28 it's Parent who should be censured. Sniadecki maintains the board broke the rules and talked about things they shouldn't have in executive session.
"I don't have anything to apologize for," Sniadecki says. "I'll continue to question things."
