The youth of South Bend are stepping up to clean up crime in their community. A program titled Youth Explosion attracted not only local youth but also young people from Wisconsin. Abundant Faith Family Ministries is sponsoring the event. The teenagers and children have recruited their peers to sing and dance to promote peace and to lead youth in the right direction. 14 year old Trevion Mcfarland said, "You don't have to drink to fit in. You don't have to smoke to fit in. You can do other things to fit in. Me personally I don't necessarily try to fit in with the crowd because I know I can't fit in, so therefore I stand out." And 11 year old Jevon Williams said, "I hope it spurs and gets youth to start coming here so they can learn about God and Jesus and what He did for us."
Balloons will be released Sunday evening in front of the church around 5:25 to honor members of the community that have lost their lives to violence.
