South Bend hosting first ever Energy Week

Are you looking to save money on your energy bills, but you don't know where to start?  The city of South Bend is trying to help.

The city is hosting Energy Week events through Saturday.  The goal is to help residents and businesses learn new ways to conserve energy and save money.

This is the inaugural year for the event organizers hope to hold annually.  The theme is 'Making $ense of Energy" and will focus on existing energy saving opportunities.

The kick-off event is Monday at the Colfax Auditorium in the St. Joseph Public Library.  The Documentary "Carbon Nation" will be shown at 6:00pm followed by a discussion with the South Bend Municipal Energy Office.

The SBMEO will host five more expositions throughout the week:

Tuesday will be the Building Efficiency Expo, held at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center

Wednesday will be the Green Energy Expo, held at Seitz Park

Thursday will be the Transportation Efficiency Expo, held at the O'Brien Recreation Center

Friday will be the Health and Sustainability Expo, held at Innovation Park.

Saturday will be the final expo, themed technology hosted at the historic Union Station, stands where we can see our energy past and gaze toward our energy future.
