A Congressional Candidate got a scare Monday at his home in Granger. St. Joseph County Police say Brendan Mullen alerted them that a small pop-bottle bomb went off in the Penny Saver slot near Mullen's mailbox in the Knollwood Neighborhood.
Police say Mullen did not file a report, but instead he just wanted them to be aware of the situation.
Mullen's campaign manager Andy Reynolds tells FOX 28 Mullen was inside his home working late Monday afternoon, when he heard an explosion. Police were called and they did respond to the home. "Our hope is that it was teenagers pulling a prank," Reynolds says. "We wanted to register what happened with police."
Mullen lives at his Granger home with his wife and two children.
He is running in the 2nd Congressional District against Jackie Walorski.
