170 years of Notre Dame history was celebrated Wednesday night with a dinner.
Every year the Center for History has one main fundraising event a year.
And Notre Dame was picked this year since this is a momentous event.
The dinner and cocktail reception was in the Historic Oliver Gardens of Copshaholm at the center.
Former Notre Dame President Monk Malloy spoke about the early years of the university.
"If you look back at the early days of both the community and university we started so simply and humbly without a lot of resources," said former president Monk Malloy. "Through the years we've had our ups and downs. Now I think we have a lot to celebrate."
The Center for History has many entities including The Ernestine M. Raclin Gallery of Notre Dame History and the Kidsfirst Children's Museum.
Money from this event will be used to further exhibits and programs.
