Dog owner turns herself in over animal neglect charges

The woman accused of neglecting two pit bulls has turned herself in. Brandi Espinosa is charged with animal cruelty and not licensing her pit bulls.

She pled not guilty and was released on her own recognizance. The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department says it found two very thin pit bull mixes at a home on Paw Paw Road.

Both dogs were chained up and caught around tree stumps so bad, they could not move more than a few inches. They had a small amount of food with no water.

The dogs are still with the Van Buren County Animal Control.
