It's the 40th year of the Four Flags Area Apple Festival in Niles and people celebrated big time with their annual fall parade Saturday. Several of the floats and signs going through the parade read, "Happy 40th Birthday." One float even looked like a giant birthday cake.
Of course, there was also a marching band, lots of other floats, and plenty of candy being thrown to the spectators. Kids watching tell us that was one of their favorite parts but they also enjoyed some other attractions. Three year old Dennis Benson said he loved, "the cars" while six year old Daniel Haskett said he really liked, "the big chicken guy."
All the Apple Fest fun continues Sunday with an apple pie eating contest, apple peeling contest, apple seed popping contest, a biggest apple contest, and much more.
