Michigan State University Athletic Director Mark Hollis and his wife, Nancy, are giving $1 million to the school for academic scholarships, football stadium improvements and arts programming.
The school says Saturday that $460,000 will establish the Hollis Family Endowed Scholarship for Michigan resident undergraduates with strong academic credentials. Another $40,000 supports activities at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum and the Wharton Center for Performing Arts.
The remainder of the gift is designated for the North End Zone project at Spartan Stadium to help build a room hosting recruits for all varsity athletic teams.
Mark and Nancy Hollis are Michigan State graduates. Nancy Hollis works in the school's study abroad program.
