UPDATE: Elkhart police investigating shooting on Frances Ave.

Elkhart Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the 1900 Block of Frances. Two people were shot around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. One person was killed. The other, a 17 year old, was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

A homeowner told police that two people forced their way in, and that is when the shots were fired. Police chased two people on foot when they arrived and managed to catch one of the suspects on the 1800 block of Frances.

Police say of Roosevelt Elementary School was placed on lockdown, but the lockdown has been lifted.
