Elkhart Police say two 16-year-olds were arrested for murder in connection
to a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., Elkhart
officers responded to a burglary call in the 1900 block of Frances Avenue. Police say someone called
to say people had forced entry into the home and shots were fired.
Officers say they found two people inside the home with gunshot wounds. One,
21-year-old Danzele Johnson of Goshen,
was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled for Johnson on
Thursday. The other, a juvenile male, was treated and released from a hospital
and arrested.
The homeowner told officers two other people had fled on foot. Police say
they arrested one person about a block away from the home. It was not clear
from a police news release if they are still looking for a second person who
fled the home.
