It wasn't a work of art but Penn High School's Spell Bowl
squad took their traveling road show to the Kouts Invitational on Monday night,
Oct. 1, and won their fourth invitational of the season over a 10- team
field.
Prior invitational wins this season have come at East
Noble, Winamac and Penn.
The Kingsmen scored 87 out of a possible 90 words
to finish ahead of second place Winamac (61) and third place Kouts and Hanover
Central who tied at 54 each.
The Penn junior varsity unofficially outscored
the varsity with a total of 89 words correctly spelled.
Perfect spellers for the Penn varsity were: Nitin
Arora, Nisha Bhatt, Austin Heckaman, Leah Hershberger, Jenny Huang, Richard
Jung, Marija Lapkus, and Disha Waghray.
Perfect spellers for the Kingsmen junior varsity
were: Faihaan Arif, Kanika Arora, Presto George, Peter Jung, Max Kirsch,
Alice Kwak, Yejee Oh, Payal Patel and Chris Yun.
Next up for Penn is the Logansport Invitational on Oct.
