Police officers were living up to stereotypes Saturday, they were drinking coffee and eating doughnuts, but it was for a good cause.
The Family Justice Center sponsored the event at Krispy Kreme in Mishawaka.
Organizers had some fun collecting donations.
The collection bucket was pulled to the roof after each donation to awaiting officers.
The Family Justice Center will use the donations to offer free services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
"A lot of reasons people stay is financial reasons or not have the support to get out of that relationship or for better or for worse. They stay in that relationship because of that. We're here to tell you you're not alone. You can get out of that relationship and the services are here for you," says Sgt Kris Hinton with the South Bend Police Department.
Three thousand cases of domestic violence and sexual assault are investigated each year.
