Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood announced this week that the city's annual fall leaf pick-up program will kick off on Monday. That means people can start raking their leaves to the curbs over the weekend.
Mayor Wood claims the city is better prepared to pick up leaves than ever. That means they'll be able to pick up leaves once per week. Leaves will be picked up the day before each household's regular trash pick-up day. If your trash is picked up on Monday, your leaves will be picked up on Friday.
The Street Department asks that leaves be raked to the edge of the curb. There should be no branches, twigs, stones or anything else that can damage equipment and delay pick-up. Brush may be taken to the Mishawaka Recycling center on East Fifth Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
