A man has been arrested after his truck hit a man in a motorized wheelchair. 37 year old Joel Hernandez-Villalobos was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a license. Friday night he was driving on State Road 933, north of the toll road when he struck 49 year old Charles Dawson. Dawson was in a motorized wheelchair. Saint Joseph County Police said Dawson was operating the wheelchair north bound on SR 933 when for unknown reasons he drove into the path of the south bound pick up truck. Dawson was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
