Hossier voters from across the state tuned in Monday, as the Indiana Senate Candidates debated for the first time in Indianapolis.
Democrat Joe Donnelly and Republican Richard Mourdock brought many of the themes they've used in their competing television attack ads to the debate stage.
Donnelly accused Mourdock of being a partisan politician who is unwilling to compromise. "It's not unprincipled to be bipartisan and to try to work with other people," Donnelly said looking at Mourdock. "Your principle is, unapologetic leader of the Tea Party Movement and that's fine. I would rather make sure that we can work together in Washington and in Indiana to move our country forward."
Richard Mourdock responded. "I don't know that label of being the unapologetic Tea Party leader since I've been elected as a Republican on a number of occasions," he said as he turned towards Donnelly. "The simple fact is the Obama, Donnelly agenda, the Harry Reid agenda that continues to put money into huge government bureaucracies without accountability is in error."
