TRANSPO will have designated stops by September 2013.
Tuesday, TRANSPO announced the change in the bus system. Currently, TRANSPO operates as a flag stop system. Passengers may request stops from any location by flagging the driver.
Soon, the system will change so buses only stop at designated locations. During the rest of October and November, the corporation will be gathering data from passengers through questionnaires to decide where those stops will be.
They estimate that there will be six stops per mile.By switching to designated stops, passengers will be able to predict when and where buses will be loading, which TRANSPO hopes will increase ridership.
"We would welcome any feedback. We want to make sure this is done correctly. We want to make sure we're getting input from the community, I mean this is their system and people depend upon it," says Chairman of Operations Committee.
If you would like to fill out a questionnaire, you can pick one up on any TRANSPO bus or online here.
