The Notre Dame Campus and Downtown South Bend may be close geographically, but the community and campus don't always feel connected. Now, some students are working to unite the campus and the city through art.
A group of Design Majors stayed behind during Fall break for a "Design Blitz." They did several projects Downtown including turning the side of a building into a chalk-art-wall and they projected funny YouTube videos on brick walls to make everyone smile.
"People that were downtown could kind of see it from a distance, and they all just kind of walked toward it. They wanted to know what was going on. They were very curious. Very excited," said design student James Slaven.
A third project involved a bus made of PVC pipes and balloons to illustrate the need for better transportation to get students from campus to Downtown South Bend. They have a petition going to support their initiative.
