A home on Moore Road in Benton Harbor was destroyed by fire Thursday. The call of a "fully involved" fire came in around 8:20am this morning. No one was injured in the fire.
FOX28 News spoke to the home owner. She told us that though she owns the house, she does not live there. She has been allowing a homeless man to live for in the home for the past month, and believes a mattress accidentally caught fire from a lit cigarette.
The house is considered a total loss, but the homeowner says she plans to turn the property into a garden.
