Local Girl Scouts are teaming up with the DEA and the American Cancer Society to spread an important message. That message is that smoking is addictive and dangerous. Thursday the Michiana Chapter of the Girl Scouts sponsored an assembly at Darden Primary School.
The even is part of "Red Ribbon Week." It's an effort to take a visible stand against substance abuse. Girl Scout Leader Becky Phelan said, "every kid knows someone who smokes. So we can help them to prevent them from smoking and maybe help someone in their family to stop from smoking."
Students wore Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs.
