Once again Fox 28, The Salvation Army, Meijer, Lake City Bank, and Combined Community Services of Warsaw are teaming up to help people in need.
It's hard for us to believe, but the Adopt-a-Family program is in it's 11th year and will start taking applications Saturday.
Families in need are adopted by other families or businesses, and they provide them with food, necessities and even gifts for the holidays.
Major Bob Webster says despite news that the economy is improving, the need hasn't gone down. It actually went up last year. "Right now they're really experiencing choices, and they have to choose whether they're going to feed their children or buy a gift or pay the utilities or pay the mortgage, and those are some really difficult choices," Major Webster says.
"This program with Adopt-a-Family is really an opportunity to provide hope with for families that don't have it or don't know where to turn especially thinking about the holidays," says Major Steve Woodard.
"The partnership with FOX, Meijer, Lake City and the Salvation Army, it enables us to help so many people that wouldn't be helped otherwise," says Meijer General Manager Rick Zeeff.
"It's just our way to partner up with other folks that care about people, care about families, care about the community and actually do something about it and help the folks," says Lake City Senior Vice President Todd Bruce.
