Community walks to raise awareness about suicide

The community gathered together Sunday to remember those lost by suicide and raise awareness for suicide prevention.  It was the second annual "out of the darkness" walk at Howard Park. Dozens hit the pavement to raise money for suicide prevention.  They said there needs to be more resources for those who are depressed and less of a stigma.  "This is a very common problem.  Depression is the leading cause of suicide.  90 percent of people die by suicide have a diagnosable treatable illness at the time of their death," said Lisa Brattain the Indiana Chair for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

If you missed the walk but would like to donate to the cause you can do so at the  American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's website.
