Folks braved the chilly temperatures Sunday afternoon to raise money to rebuild a community landmark.
The observation tower at Ox Bow County Park was set on fire two years ago.
Fundraisers to bring back the tower have been ongoing ever since.
Nearly 1 hundred people were at the starting line of the third annual Ox Bow Tower 5K.
For some, the event is much more than just a race.
"The tower has been standing for about 38 years and I grew up in this area. I ran Cross Country for Concord High School and so the tower was just part of my everyday existence," says race organizer, Katrina Godzisz.
"I just remember being here as a little kid and just seeing going up in the tower and just like looking all over the place just being amazed as a little kid," says Gerardo Abad who took 1st Place.
Organizers say they have raised $65,000.
The new tower is expected to cost $180,000.
