Interested in learning what's its like to be a firefighter.
Then the Explorer program at Clay Township fire is for you.
Clay Fire held an informational meeting tonight at its command training center.
The program allows 14 to 20 year olds to explore a possible career.
Participants will get hands-on experience as paramedics and firefighters for the next six to eight months.
"One of the goals we have with our group in particular is getting our explorers to the point where they're familiar with what we're doing on the scene in the event that we do have a major event," said Clay Fire Batallion Chief Mike Gerndt.
The explorers will be trained so they can join crews on a real scene.
In the next class they will learn about what its like to be in an air pack and crawl through confined spaces.
