A long awaited project at Goshen College is finished. The Underpass at the train tracks was unveiled Friday.
Construction began this past April after a five year wait. The underpass allows people walking or biking to safely cross campus when a train is passing through. There's a "runnel" for bikes to use and a lift for wheelchairs.
"No more excuses for being late. You start multiplying the number of people waiting for the train times the number of minutes. It's a significant productivity improvement for us," says Project Coordinator Glenn Gilbert
A federal grant to the city of Goshen covered the 1-point-8-million dollar project.
