Trash pickup changes in South Bend due to Veterans Day

News Release from City of South Bend

TRASH PICKUP CHANGES NEXT WEEK DUE TO VETERANS DAY

SOUTH BEND-The City of South Bend has announced that due to the observed Veterans Day holiday on Monday, November 12, regular trash collection will occur one day late throughout next week. While Solid Waste crews normally do not collect trash on Friday, they will do so on Friday, November 16, to keep pickup on track for the week.

Regularly scheduled pickup will resume the week of November 19 for collection days Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday collection day will occur on Friday, November 23 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Residents are also reminded that yard waste is still collected, automatically each week, on the same day as regular trash pickup. Yard waste should be bagged and placed curbside for collection. All yard waste is recycled at the City of South Bend's Organic Resource Facility. The City encourages the use of paper bags as an alternative to plastic bags for yard waste.  This will result in significantly lower tipping fees and will help reduce toxic waste in landfills.

Please call the Division of Solid Waste at 574-277-8823 for details or if you have questions regarding your day of pickup.
